How to keep your business free of allergies

How to Keep your Business Allergen Free this Spring

Spring has officially sprung. That means the season of spring allergies is also upon us. As a business, the health of your employees is top-of-mind. After all, it can be hard to stay productive when your spring allergies are rearing their ugly head. So how do you keep your business as allergen free as possible?Try some of these tips to reduce allergens and keep your employees healthy this Spring:Dust regularly. The most common trigger of asthma and other allergy symptoms is dust mites, and they thrive in dust. But beware, you need to use a damp or treated cloth that attracts dust. Otherwise, you’ll kick the dust up into the air and spread the allergen particles instead of getting rid of them.Use a vacuum with a HEPA filter. To truly trap small particles, like allergens, and prevent them from spreading into the air, you need to use a HEPA filter. Try to vacuum at least once or twice a week for maximum allergen prevention.Use allergen-proof covers. Does your office have a common room couch? Maybe you have some soft chairs with non-washable pillows for employee breaks? Either way, you need to cover those soft surfaces with allergen-proof covers or wash the fabric regularly to reduce allergens.Keep the humidity around 40%. This is the optimal level to discourage mold or common allergens from spreading. Air conditioning usually helps keep a proper humidity level. But if not, then use a humidifier or dehumidifier to achieve the correct balance.Watch out for mold. Mold and mildew is often the biggest irritant for allergy sufferers. So watch out for any and all signs of mold and mildew, especially in kitchens and bathrooms where it is most likely to occur. Regular cleanings help keep any mold and mildew at bay in your office.Use environmentally friendly cleaning products. Harsh chemicals found in many common cleaners can aggravate or trigger symptoms for allergy sufferers. So make sure your cleaning company is using green products, like we do here at OpenWorks.Did you know that about 50 percent of common homes and offices can contain at least six different allergens? Keep those allergens at bay, and your employees healthy and productive this spring with regular, customized cleaning.
